Who is Arsenal Target Jean Michael Seri?

Jean Michael Seri

Arsenal’s fifth-place finish last season was more than disappointing for the club, as they will also have to be without Champions League football next season for the first time under Arsene Wenger.

To reclaim the club’s lost glory, Wenger is keen to bolster his squad and has brought in two players so far. Alexandre Lacazette joined in a club-record deal from Lyon while Sead Kolasinac joined on a free
transfer from German club Schalke 04.

Arsenal have not made as much progress in the transfer market as Wenger would have liked, but more players are expected to join them before the transfer window closes.

Thomas Lemar and Jean Michael Seri are the two players topping the Gunners boss’ transfer list at the moment and could move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

In the light of that, we take a look at who Jean Michael Seri is:

The OGC Nice central midfielder started his career with Africa Sports in his home country Ivory Coast before joining ASEC Mimosas in 2010. He joined FC Porto B-team on loan at age 21, and after that moved to Pacos Ferreira on a free transfer before his transfer to Nice for £850,000 in the summer of 2015.

He completed 2,733 passes with 90% pass accuracy. He created 74 chances and 32 through balls, scored seven goals and assisted another nine for Nice last season. Only PSG’s Thiago Motta and Macro Verratti have more passes than him last season.

The 26-year-old is an energetic box-to-box midfielder and his arrival would provide the much needed upgrade on a number of current options in the Gunners midfield.

He has also been targeted by Barcelona, Tottenham, PSG and Roma. He would make a superb addition to the Gunners but Wenger will have to offload deadwood in the midfield.
