Italian journalist, Emamuele Guilianelli has stated on Twitter that Arsenal chief, Ivan Gazidis and manager, Arsene Wenger who were spotted in Nice WERE in discussions about the potential signing of two players: Jean Seri and Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe.

The football world was awash with reaction after images emerged of Wenger and Gazidis having discussions in the sunny city of Nice, and Guilianelli has now confirmed the rumours that the pair were indeed meeting and mulling over moves for the French players.

The Italian journalist works with The Sun, FouFourTwo, Whoscored, and a host of other media outlets and is well respected for his knowledge on transfer speculation, after being the first to break the Skhodran Mustafi to Arsenal links last summer.

Wenger, who was offered a two year contract extension at The Emirates after dismantling Chelsea in the FA Cup Final last month is keen on one final league title after winning the last one for the club 13 years ago, and is keen on a number of key players to make that dream become reality.

The pair of Nice’s Jean Seri and Monaco sensation, Kylian Mbappe are two of the names on that shortlist. Seri, a central midfielder, has earned admirers for his class on the ball for Lucien Favre’s men this season, while Mbappe is wanted by the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City and could become the world’s first £100m player.

Arsenal finished fifth in the league last season, thereby failing to qualify for the Champions League, meaning that there is still uncertainty as to how both players could be convinced to join.

However, Arsenal fans will be buoyed by the fact that The Gunners are finally making moves to get the best players on on offer, something that has been sadly missing for the last decade and a half.
